Mark & Cathi {1.11.03} here’s to another 100 yrs

On this day in 2003, I married my best friend.

A wedding planned 1200 miles away by my future mother-in-law and 2 hired wedding planners was the backdrop for a long awaited memory. Four and a half years of dating and 14 months betrothal was certainly the greatest test for two star-crossed lovers – but we made it.
When the clock struck 7 o’clock, I was down the aisle, looking into the eyes of my future. We didn’t know exactly what this future would hold, but we did know that we were more than ready to get to the holding part!
Well, we did it! We’re looking back at 5 years and looking forward to another 100.
Mark, you are my beloved, my best friend, my lover…yep, you’re my favorite.
Here’s to us!

  1. smartest play EVER, mandy! Seriously, that was the hardest test of! I will NEVER force my kids to wait that long. It’s wrong, Mandy, just wrong! Can I tell you that the stegall hormones had to wear the stinking safety belt for 4 1/2 years?!?! ridiculous.
If we had to do it again. We’d take the road you traveled.

  2. we dated 15 months before getting engaged.
that put us at about 1 1/2 years of waiting.

    about a year too long.

we actually will be counseling young couples that if its THAT bad, to go ahead & get married – even if SECRETLY. and hold a real wedding later… seriously. drew’s professor taught on this a while ago and it totally resonated with us.
‘dating’ these days, it just ain’t right.

  3. My thought, is when you’re ready, you’re ready. If you know you two would be perfect living life together and “eating steak” is definitely on the menu…why waste time “eating pb&j”.
